Investigations Division
Under the Command of Investigations, the Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for the investigation of various crimes throughout the city. Criminal activity includes crimes against persons, crimes against property, vice and narcotics related crimes, and gang related crime. Criminal Investigations includes all detectives, narcotics investigators, neighborhood enforcement officers, crime scene investigators, crime analysis, and criminal intelligence. Each Police Precinct is staffed with a Property Crimes Detective and a Neighborhood Enforcement Team.
About Major Garvin
Deputy Chief of Investigations
Major Cassandra Garvin joined the Suffolk Police Department in 2007 and has worked in various areas of the Department, to include Uniform Patrol, Administration, and Professional Standards. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Oklahoma and a Master’s degree in Strategic Communication from Troy University. She was promoted to the rank of Major in 2019.
