Motor Carrier Unit

The Suffolk Police Department Motor Carrier Unit is responsible for participating in regional inspections of large motor vehicles which ensure that all trucks and motor carriers are abiding by strict regulations designed to protect motorists, local infrastructures, and roadways. Citations from these inspections result in revenue that is disbursed to the City by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Members of this unit require specialized training in commercial vehicles, hazardous materials, and bulk containers, among others.
